Sylvia Hoeks has put herself on the map as one of the most respected international artists of her generation. She had a screen stealing performance as  ‘Luv’ in the critically acclaimed film BLADE RUNNER 2049 opposite Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford; her performance continues to be listed as one of the top 10 best villains in cinema.

Sylvia is next to be seen in the Amazon Prime Video miniseries RIDE OR DIE, opposite Hannah Waddigham and Octavia Spencer.  She recently wrapped the independent feature film SO MUCH FOR LOVE opposite Finn Wittrock and is in production on season two of the Netflix series BLACK DOVES. She is about to begin production on LORDS OF WAR, opposite Bill Skaarsgard and Nicholas Cage. Her feature film MOTHER premiered in the Orrizonti section of the 2025 Venice Film Festival.

In 2024, Sylvia starred in Francesca Gregorini’s HURRICANA as Anna Nicole Smith alongside Holly Hunter and Mark Duplass and starred in Jordan Scott’s A SACRIFICE starring opposite Eric Bana and Sadie Sink. Previously, she also starred in the three season Apple original sci-fi series SEE, opposite Jason Momoa and Alfre Woodard, for which her extravagant approach of character Queen Kane was widely applauded. She could also be seen starring in David Lowrey’s short OAK THORN & THE OLD ROSE OF LOVE opposite Jackie Earle Haley.

Hoeks starred opposite August Diehl in the World War II drama PLAN A, which tells the true story about a secret operation in 1945 called Plan A in which a group of Jewish Holocaust survivors plan an ultimate act of revenge for the six million Jews murdered by the Nazis.

Hoeks was first spotted by a modeling agency at a very young age and attended the Maastricht Academy of Dramatic Arts.  After graduating, she appeared in a number of Dutch TV series and films, first gaining acclaim for her supporting role in the film DUSKA which earned her the Dutch equivalent of a Best Supporting Actress Oscar. She continued to work in Dutch and European cinema, finally breaking through to the English-language market in 2013, when she starred in THE BEST OFFER opposite Geoffrey Rush and Jim Sturgess.  She starred in several international films for which she has received awards recognition including Berlinale’s Shooting Star honor.

She is from the Netherlands and resides in Los Angeles.  Besides her native Dutch, Hoeks speaks German, French and English.  She appears in productions made in all of these languages, and has a solid American accent.
